Echo
“On going”
Straight out of the rental public housing where low- and moderate-income Algerian citizens reside, lies a vibrant and dynamic rap scene. Here, amongst the concrete structures and everyday hustle, a community of artists flourishes, driven by passion and suppleness.
I've had the privilege of growing up alongside many of the talented individuals, witnessing their struggle. Together, a bond that shared experiences, aspirations, and a deep love for Hip Hop culture, they have taken matters into their own hands, due to the lack of support from the music industry. They fund their projects from personal resources, turning their rooms in their parents’ apartments into temporary home studios and utilizing the streets as shooting locations for their music videos.
This project aims to delve into the depths of this voice which is worldwide viral, and follow one of its echoes, that stocks somewhere in this globe, in Jijel; Algeria.
